A nice and rainy few days...more to come...

Rainy days don't bring this class down! We loved running around in the misty haze with a teachers dressed in a big rain coat looking like a banana! Great fun!
This week we continued to work on many fantastic things and even Mrs. Koritko came to visit our classroom to see all the great things that have been happening. We are so proud of all the new FDK students who are getting better everyday in writing their names and are so eager to learn alongside all the other friends in our class. By the way we call our class Monkey Doodles. Why we aren't sure but they are just these eager little monkeys with so much energy...and really it just suits them.
Well...as promised let us introduce our new happy face free blog! Thank you to everyone who signed the permission form that allows us to share these at the start of September and we know many of you are happy to no longer see the smiley faces lol.

We started the week with continuing to learn about shapes. Above you see a class sorting activity that we did and below you will see some students working hard on choosing their favourite two shapes and than trying to find items that match in all the fun flyers that you were able to send in.

Some of our monkey doodles continue to love finding new ways of making shapes with materials in the classroom that are both 2D and 3D and we are so proud of them when they do!

Learning to recognize letters and writing gets everyone in our class so excited! We did a learning center during which students used paint to find letters in their name and practice writing them.
The students are also continuously using classroom tools to work on centers of their own and practice their names.
The students were all wondering last week and asking "Mrs Latus where were you were you sick?" With great concern. They were told that just like they learn about creation and God their teachers go out and learn about how to use things they love in their classroom. Mrs. Latus LOVES photography and attended a Faith Formation Day and learned how to incorporate photos taken into the classroom. So far the reslults have been amazing! A water colour center inspired by photography by Mrs. Latus taken at the convent in Waterdown was a great success. We all now call each other amazing artists. Mrs. Koritko was so excited to see these!
The water colour interpretations will be used to learn about colours and to further appreciate Gods creation. They will also be used to inspire prayer writing as a class.
Our prayer rocks also went home this week and it has been such a blessing to see how they are being used within your homes. Thank you for sharing your photos.

We hope the prayer rocks are used all year long and for years to come!
The colours outside have inspired fun use of our bodies, paint and fine motor skills to create some fantastic trees. We will also be working on graphing and sorting of leaves after our walk Wednesday. Bring some rain boots!
Patterning continues to happen daily in our room. Writing is happening constantly and new math ideas are beginning to arise.

Jersey Day tomorrow and Blue Jays Day Thursday!!

We hope you enjoyed this little update!
PS we need Kleenex boxes!
