2017 is here ♥-Our first week back!

Welcome to January! Thank you for remembering to send in proper clothing for our tricky weather! We missed all of you and are so happy to be back.

"Look I made the letter I"

WELCOME BACK! We have had a great first week back full of reconnecting and fun! So much collaboration and fun has been going on.  Getting back into school routine hasn't always been easy (many of our monkeys are getting tired and wanting naps/meditation to relax).
Above we see letters being made and words being added to the word wall.  What a great way to start our first few days.  WE LOVE seeing the students excited to show us new skills.

We brought out some magnets and it is amazing to see what they can do! We have been able to magically move cars, make things stick, and even make cars and objects move from under the table and without touching  them (check twitter for a video). More magnetic discoveries to come over the next little while! Problem solving and discovery while collaborating and contributing!
We even figured out how to make faces and designs with the magnets-although sometimes challenging because they move around!

We worked on matching numbers with mittens!

Some of our friends discovered that we had no mitten to match number 10 with! Great discovery!

We had so much fun sharing pictures from our break (if you haven't sent it in yet feel free to do that soon!) We are now posting our experiences in our room.  Really neat to see how many fun things everyone did over the Christmas Break.

Can you guess what these boys are trying to do?

We read a great book and we are drawing pictures and trying to write about what we would do if we were a snowman at night.  What would you do? Our students are coming up with some really great ideas! Imagine being a magical snowman who woke up at night-would you play your favourite sport, eat some yummy food, or perhaps have a dance party?

I pads have been inspiring us to write some Pokemon stories.

The snow was SOOOO much fun! Seeing how big the snowballs were in comparison to our bodies and how heavy they were was a fun way to incorporate math language into play.

WE are excited about Lego Land next week! Here we have one of our students trying to use step by step instructions to build a creation. Many of us can be very creative with Lego and some of us really enjoy using step by step which is always a pleasure to see.  Following instructions will come in handy as we get older and so will our creativity! Both ways of thinking are encouraged and wonderful.

Boomwhackers with our PTM teacher sure were fun on the stage.  On Mondays and Tuesdays our year one and two students alternate going on the stage to have fun with music.  We have many aspiring young musicians.

MAKING PATTERNS AND CREATIONS WITH RECYCLABLES IS ENCOURAGED! PLEASE START SENDING IN ITEMS WE CAN USE TO MAKE NEW CREATIONS NEXT WEEK IN SCHOOL!

HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A HAPPY START TO JANUARY!
